In an effort to tie together all the things we expect everyone:
1. No double posting within a reasonable time-frame - that means that if you come back to your PC an hour after your original post and want to make a fresh post in the same thread immediately after your last one, it's probably OK. 5 minutes later, though, and I'd point you to the modify button.
2. No l33t speak (except if you're being ironic) - it just makes you look silly and us confused. And much of it results in an activation of the swear filter anyway.
3. Control your language - cursing isn't of itself so bad, but Rob has become quite picky with the swear filter, so previewing your post isn't a bad idea. And swearing isn't cool anyway.
4. Warez/torrents etc. are officially frowned upon by me. Not forbidden, or even actively discouraged, but know that I'll be frowing at every last link.
5. Posts that don't make sense will be judiciously pruned, and the posters ridiculed.
6. Private jokes are to be encouraged, but private conversations that go on for pages are a little silly (MSN does have its place, you see...) and make everyone bored.
Post comments/suggestion etc, once the list becomes comprehensive I'll unsticky this and make a proper one-post rules-sticky.

You should also include something about leaving a big unnesccary banner at the end of every post. Avatars I believe they call them. Quotes are Ok coz they're much smaller. In comparison double posting is nothing.

Nice work. The Israeli secret service couldn't have done it quicker! I also take issue with his first post though: 1. NOthing wrong with banners. Perfectly acceptable form of sig, especially in the broadband age 2. It's called a sig, Donal, not an avatar. The avatar is the icon picture you don't have. 3. Quotes are ok coz they'r much smaller? Than what? banner sigs? Quite often they're not. And it's the internet, anyway; it's not like we're short on screenspace here. 4. Wait a second, are quotes being compared unfavourably to double posts here? WTF? They serve entirely different purposes, and quotes are actually useful, whereas double posts are just kinda irritating.
Jeez, that post annoyed me...

I admit that banners occasionally irritate me, but in general they don't, and comparing them to double posting is just silly. Also, does anyone else feel that maybe Shane has hijacked Dónal's account?
Incidentally, the 15 second time delat has nothing to do with double posting - it's mainly there to prevent spam bots wreaking untold havoc by signing up and posting 50 posts/second until a mod realises and bans them. Not that we've had that problem, but there's no harm in being prepared.

Also, does anyone else feel that maybe Shane has hijacked Dónal's account? No. If nothing else, Shane would've sworn at us more.

This thread is completely redundant.

Pretty much what I felt. What's the point in regimented fun?!

Fine, fine, I hereby solemnly swear to make no further efforts at regimenting the fun which is to be had on this board. Henceforth, I will ensure that my banning is as arbitrary and apparently unfair as possible, and refuse to disclose the system under which I am operating.
