I move for an entire board to be dedicated to music but in the absence of which this thread will have to do. Quick top 3 of what you're listening to at the moment. Here's mine:
Fight Like Apes - I've probably said this a dozen times but I love this band! Excellent vocals, groovy bass, wonderful synth...The entire album almost is brilliant. Listen to them. Now. The Stranglers - lyrics make no sense but who cares! My Bloody Valentine - a bit too artsy for some but Loveless is a sonic masterpiece, especially the opening track.

If you like Fight Like Apes I think you'd like 'Be Your Own Pet.' When I heard Fight Like Apes they really reminded me of them.
My Bloody Valentine and Stranglers are also fantastic.

Yay, someone posted back! ;D
Regarding the trinity ball: I'm not sure. I don't like the fact that it's black tie or viciously expensive for that matter. On the other hand it would probably be a great night out. What about yourself Aonghus?

I'm listening to...oh, wait, nothing. I'm listening to nothing. Because my MP3 player broke. Again.
Though, I guess, I'm finding plenty of time to rock out to "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel when no one is looking.
I mean, um, what?

Shane: Nah. A Night of drunken debauchery is all very well when you're single, or your other half can go. Otherwise it's just pointless, specially seeing as I dontreally care about the lineup...

Fight like Apes were playing in DCU last night and it was only a fiver to get in. They sounded pretty savage as well.
Everyone was getting really excited yesterday about the Trinity Ball until we all found out that it costs €78 for a ticket.
Also:
This would be just as epic in a classic NES game.

I'm warming up for the summer concert season - Bruce Springsteen and U2 in the same month is almost taking the piss though...

What do we think of that song and the whole album as a matter of fact? (Get on your boots) I don't like it very much. Too pedestrian for me. The rest of the album is kinda the same. Although I probably judge it too harshly considering I'm comparing it to their earlier magnificence.

I've only heard bits and pieces off it, so I can't offer a fully formed opinion just yet, but I'd agree that it utterly fails to live up to their earlier magnificence. Certainly Get on your Boots was very "meh", and I think I'd say the same for Magnificent. Not that they're "bad" songs, just not what we've come to expect.

There's a marvellous review coming out in a soon to be released Irish language magazine! Get on your boots is alright I think, I prefer that one where Bono slags himself off though!! 'Stand Up Comedy'...I like Breathe ...Many of the die-hards seem to love Surprise apparently
Not advertising - didn't mention the name!!

The song "Hold on Loosely" by .38 Special is about wanking. Discuss.

I really don't think that that's the appropriate emoticon for a discussion about wanking, Aonghus. I really don't.

I was in the car this morning with my father when I suddenly became horrified at how I had forgotten that this is basically the greatest musical composition of all time:

The fact that he's too sexy for his shirt, his hat, or indeed this song, really says it all.

I think if he had not been 'too sexy', a very different but nonetheless interesting song would have been created, don't you agree?

I would eat my own face to hear a Johnny Cash version of Paulo Nutini's 'Rewind' (the fast version).

You'd eat your face? Now this I've GOT to see.

You'd eat your face? Now this I've GOT to see. If you can find technology that can bring Johnny Cash back to life and then somehow get him to do a great cover version of this song, then yes, I will eat my own face, because chances are with technology that advanced, there would be some way of me eating my face so that not only would it be incredibly easy and utterly painless, but it would regenerate in a matter of minutes.

I'm going to invent a way to bring Johnny Cash back to life just to see you chop off, and then subsequently eat, your face.

Top 10 songs atm in no particular order, (actually carefully thought through): 1. Soslbury hill - Peter Gabriel 2. The office theme US - The Scrantones 3. Handbags and the Gladrags - Stereophinics 4. Here in your arms - Hellogoodbye 5. Radio Nowhere - Bruce Springsteen 6. Ghostbusters theme - ? 7. Jump - Van Halen 8. Infinity 2008 - Guru Josh Project 9. Pruit Igoe - Phillip Glass (watchmen) 10. We didnt start the fire - Billy Joel All songs excluding Pruit Igoe pretty much should be considered good by anyone and dont require an aquired taste.

Billy Joel... Oh Dónal. I can actually picture you singing along to that in your kitchen or something, rocking out and everything.

Did anyone else hear that Right Said Fred eventually became too sexy for his gym membership fee? That's what I heard...
Also, I think Rob chopping off his own face and eating it might end up like Kyle sucking Cartman's balls - even if leprachauns do exist, he's still not gonna do it. If you're hoping that he will you might want to get it in writing. And even then, don't hold your breath.
