The ultimate form of mental (and musical) wanking. From Bebop to Swing, Armstrong toGillespie, talk about this most wonderful creation here.

Aonghus I'll be blunt: your thread is empty because jazz sucks

Shane, I'll be blunt: I'm not taking that kinda drokk from a man who listens to Iggy Pop! Diarmuid: It doesn't count if the first post is the thread-starter. It's a seperate entity! Posts=replies, for the purposes of double-posting.

I really don't think that that's how it works, Aonghus. Sorry

Well, in my experience (Mainly VF, tbh) that's pretty much how it does work. it's like an aside to your main statement.
On a topic-related note, go listen to Mack the Knife. Now.

I love Mack the Knife!
But as we both know... what's the other swing-type song I prefer? I was singing it the other day...? Oh yes! Ain't That A Kick in the Head. Excellent song. Excellent.

Yes Caoimhe, yes it is!
And Shane, I've said it before, I'll say it again. Iggy Pop is the poor man's David Bowie.
Btw Caoimhe, have you listened to Obey the Moderator yet?

Yay, someone agrees with me! Would it be unfair, though, to say Iggy Pop in particular?

You cannot compare David Bowie to Iggy Pop. That's like comparing mount Rushmore with a pencilcase, incompatable!

I should probably point out that I don't have that much of a problem with jazz per se... just the whole concept of white people enjoying the black man's music irks me.
I mean, ever seen a black country singer?

I'm reminded of a PUSA song (which I don't like much but is amusing): 'I wanna be a Jazz guy, and play black music for white people' B ]

Sickened by my casual racism? You know, Shane, this isn't anything new or shocking. How long have I been taunted for being unintentionally racist? How long have I used this supposed racism to get a laugh or two out of Conall and Peadar? How long have you been blind to that which is most obvious? How long, Shane? How long!!

We do seriously need to sort out the smiley situation. I know you can change the image that comes up in the skin settings, but I'm not sure if that only appears for you or for everyone looking at it.
