No lamb chops!
They might be rock stars, but they're no Joels or Antons.

How do you get Mewtwo in the Gold and Silver versions? Can you only get them through trading with Red & Blue?

@kweevawell one of 'em has sideburns... and the another has a beard... but I guess you're right. I was clutching at straws there really. @rob: Yeah, you have to trade him from Red/Blue/Yellow. The Cerulean Cave, where you caught him originally, was after collapsing in on itself at the time of Gold/Silver/Crystal. With the introduction of the Dark-type and more powerful Bug-type moves though, the ridiculously over-powered Psychic-type was taken down a fair few pegs. Mewtwo is still the most powerful Pokémon out there though, it has to be said, with stats all in the right places and moves that could rubbish on a monkey. On the left is the Red/Blue Cerulean City, with the Cave's entrance intact, and on the right is the Gold/Silver/Crystal Cerulean City, with nothing but water where the Cave's entrance once was. - The TV in the player's house in Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, when interacted with, states that "There is a movie on TV. Two men are dancing on a big piano keyboard". The movie playing may be the 1988 Tom Hanks film 'Big'. - Goldenrod City is the hometown of Bill, the inventor of the Kanto and Johto PC Storage System. However, some of his family also live in Fuchsia City and on Cerulean Cape.

The way the TV descriptions are given sounds like the way Rorschach describes thing.
Also, just thinking about it, the movie 'playing' in the original games could well be Stand By Me.

Actually Vietnam was a war. It's Korea that was a police action.
Although I may have jokingly referred to Vietnam as a police action once or twice, so I guess that's fair enough.

Officially the Korean War was, from the US point of view, "The Korean Police Action", which is obviously utter tripe. I may have made an attempt at satire at some point by referring to Vietnam as the Vietnamese police action, or something similar.

Just putting Pikachu in a post doesn't make it Pokémon related either, Dónal. [/b][/quote] I'm sorry. I don't know how you could be more wrong. Mentioning Pickachu blatantly DOES connect it to Pokémon. Is anyone else getting this?

I'm not sure what this is, but it seems like some sort of fan-series made with PokéMon game sprites.

@rob: That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen... that's also a shining example of why idiots shouldn't be allowed near Roms, Rom-editing software, or Pokémon in general. @aonghus: I resent that, whole-heartedly. @dónal: It makes it at least as connected to Pokémon as the conversation Diarmuid and I were having, which you said wasn't connected to Pokémon. - Misty's French name is Ondine, referring to a water nymph in Germanic mythology ... dort ;D
- One of the Hikers in the Rock Tunnel makes a reference to the song Hit Me with Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar, saying "Hit me with your best shot!" prior to battle, and "Fired away!" after being defeated.
- The Grimer and Muk located in the Power Plant, that can only be found in Pokémon Yellow, are direct references to the anime episode Sparks Fly for Magnemite in which Grimer and Muk take over a power plant located in Gringey City.
- The name of the cave Tohjo Falls, that divided Kanto from Johto in the G/S/C versions, is a portmanteau of the second syllable of Kanto and the first syllable of Johto; it is the "end" of Kanto and the "beginning" of Johto.

We all knew what you meant, don't worry ... - Diglett and its evolution can learn Scratch, Slash, Fury Swipes, and Shadow Claw despite not seeming to have any hands or claws. It was revealed in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, however that Diglett's do, in fact have feet.

hahahaha I think we should all have nominations for the Pokémon that most resembles each person, or indeed, ourselves. Most of you probably aren't familiar with ALL the Pokémon out there now though, so I'll post an accompanying picture for you all to browse. Consult the picture in the yearbook too, if you have it handy. Too big to post comfortably as an image, so just follow the link and make your decisions: ui19.gamespot.com/1202/everysinglepokemon.png- The Pokémon Wailord, although being the largest Pokémon by far at just over 47 feet long, can breed with the kitten Pokémon Skitty, weighing in at litte over 24 lbs and 2 feet. Just think about that for a moment. The sheer logistics astound me, when you consider that Skitties are largely female...

As a PokéMon, Magnemite pisses me off. He naturally evolved to have magnets grow out of his head. Come on.
