Post anything Pokémon-related here. Fanboy moments, favourite Pokémon, fond memories or whatever. Every post will earn the thread a secret Poké-fact that I'll bet none of you've heard before.
In honour of this post, here's the first one:
- The original tagline for the Pokémon dub, "Gotta Catch 'em All!", was dropped in 2003 when producers realised that Ash had only caught 8.03% of the then total of 386 Pokémon and was clearly not making the slightest effort to "Catch 'em All!".

Ha! My favourite PokéMon memory ever was when I was fighting Lt. Surge in the Red Version and my whole squad was down, except for my shitty Weedle. Surge's Raichu was down to miniscule health and I had poisoned him at the start of the match, but things looked grim. "Raichu is hurt by the poison...Raichu has fainted!" My Weedle suddenly grew four more levels and immediately evolved into a Kakuna, which then evolved into a Beedrill the next time it levelled up. Awesome. →→

I love when that happens. LT. Surge's Raichu's a dickhead to beat if you don't have a Ground-type, especially in the Yellow version where it's at a higher level. - In 2008, Japanese researchers discovered a new protein which helps carry electrical impulses from the eyes to the brain and named it Pikachurin. They based the name on Pikachu largely because they noticed that both Pikachu and the protein had amazing speed and agility.

I never owned this game, because I was never allowed a gameboy. I did, however, own a bootlegged Japanese version for the PC, and got as far as the Pokéflute bit, where I couldn't find the Pokéflute and thus ended up stuck. EDIT: Found it for you ~ Tom

Wow! What a story! Have you ever thought of selling the rights to it to Universal or Mirimax? Sorry, that was probably a bit harsh. I mean, you did have Pokémon Yellow before anyone else after all. - The legendary Pokémon Mew's name, then spelled ミュー, not ミュウ (ミュウ was registered on August 6, 1999) was the first Pokémon trademark ever registered (March 31, 1994), even before 'Pocket Monsters' which was granted on December 26, 1997.

Miramax said they were interested but were offering next to nothing for the rights, and Universal seem to be playing me for a fool. I might see if any of the other big studios are interested, but we'll have to wait and see. Cross your fingers for me!

No, I'm pretty sure I was the first person to have PokeMon Yellow first, because no one was really sure what it was until I got it. Diarmuid got it shortly afterwards. Remember the rumours? God. Some of those rumours put people like Domo on the map. "They say if you talk to Bill 600 times he brings you over to his machine and it teleports you to the Orange Islands/his Secret Garden where you can catch PokeMon from the Gold version!!!" "Hitmonlee evolves into Hitmonchan if you give him a moonstone at level 34!!!!" "If you complete your PokeDex 10 million times, PokeMon come into the REAL WORLD!!!!" Oh the memories..

Really? Well I can't remember rightly either way. After all, it was about 10 years ago. As for the cheats, I remember wasting hours upon hours experimenting and trying new ones. I even remembering buying a magazine that had the audacity to print several of these stupid cheats between its covers. I mean, I expected more from a commercial publication. - In the Pokémon anime episode Go West, Young Meowth, it was stated that Meowth in Team Rocket had to learn and practice standing on his hind legs like a human, implying that Meowth, as a species, are not naturally able to stand on their hind legs. However, almost all sprites in the games and the Pokédex in the anime depict Meowth standing on their hind legs, suggesting that they have the natural ability to walk on two legs and that Meowth of Team Rocket is, in fact, a retard.

It always seemed a bit off to me that Meowth was the 'mon they chose to be able to speak in the show. I mean, he's based on a cat! It seems sort of random, when they could have had some sort of parrot PokeMon or even just some non-animal based creature.

They probably chose Meowth as Jessie/James' wise-cracking sidekick because of his appearance as a mangy tabby-cat, which emphasised the stark contrast between their many failures and Giovanni's many successes when compared to his elegant Persian. - Delia Ketchum, Ash's mum, is only 29 years old (dodgy) at the time of the anime and apparently went out with Giovanni, of Team Rocket fame, (double dodgy) before meeting Ash's dad. She's also voiced by the same voice actor as Ash (triple dodgy). ^I know I would.^

It's fairly obvious that Ash is being voiced by a woman.
Also, Ash's mother reminds me a lot of Cartman's mother from South Park. I'd say she's quite the Pallet Town bicycle.

Is it wrong that I'm attracted to Ash's mom? I mean, I totally would. I'd ride her to the shops, I'd ride her to school, hell, I'd probably ride her through the Tour de France! - There are two types of Pokémon jets: Boeing 747 and Boeing 767. They are owned and operated by a Japanese airline company known as ANA (All Nippon Airlines), and have been flying in the skies since 1998.The outside is decorated with many different Pokémon characters and logos, and on the inside, everything has to do with Pokémon. The flight attendants wear Pokméon aprons, you rest your head on Pokémon headrest covers, and you drink from Pokémon cups. Pokémon 767: Pokémon 747:

That's just plain ridiculous. Are PokeMon as popular as Mickey Mouse in Japan?!

More so. Let's notforget the rather disquieting amounts of fanboys/fangirls in Japan, too. THey're an industry unto themselves!

Oh God, lads. This means I'm going to have to give 3 Pokéfacts. Well... here goes. - In a poll conducted by Nintendo of Europe, the Pokémon Mudkip was voted as the fan favourite. This is most probably to do with the the internet meme "so i herd u liek mudkips?" and its popularity on *chan sites.
- Mewtwo's birthday is February 6th, as stated in the journal on Cinnabar Island.
- There had been some debate as to why the character Tracey Sketchit was created, as well as why he replaced Brock in the Pokémon anime. In a recent interview with former Pokémon anime director and storyboard artist Masamitsu Hidaka, he stated his own reason why Tracey was created and why he replaced Brock. He revealed that the reason they replaced Brock is because, once they realized Pokémon was going to go global, there was a chance that Americans, if not anyone else outside of Japan, would view Brock as a racist stereotype because of his eyes (even though there wasn't an actual complaint yet). So they created a "tall, anglo-saxon looking person to be on the safe side". They later replaced him with Brock again once they realized that no one really cared as to what Brock looks like, and actually enjoyed his character.

I love all of the hilarious (and sometimes quite sinister) reasons that they've seen the need to ban or censor PokéMon over the years.

I love Pokemon in general. In fact, I'm very tempted to go watch an episode right now...

Not sure if that was directed at the Philip K. Dick reference or at the cute little sheepy Pokémon... - Groudon is by far the heaviest Pokémon in existence, weighing in at an astonishing 2094.4 lbs.

It was about the sheepy pokemon... I like sheep. I think it's because I have some. Ooh! Actually, I wonder if we have loads of little lambs yet!

Lambs are too cute... and too tasty. Seriously. Lamb is infinitely nicer than almost any other meat, bar maybe duck or certain fish (if you'd call that meat). - The Pokémon Company's CEO, Tsunekaz Ishihara's, favorite Pokémon is Exeggutor, partly because he used it all throughout the debugging and testing of Pokémon Red and Green.

Lamb is great. I love lamp chop. As in the puppet. I don't actually like lamp chops, it tastes different to the good stuff off the leg.
Ah Exeggutor. Another great pun-tastic pokémon name.

I love lamb chops, as in the facial hair. They're awesome ;D - The Pokémon TCG Base-set card, Charizard, was once the most sought-after card in the entire Pokémon TCG. Individual Charizard cards were sold for up to as much as $150. P.S. I FUKKING LOVE POKéMON

You love lamb chops aye? You should get a load of Brian Jonestown Massacre. They have magical lamb chops. EDIT: Is there a pokémon for a rock star with big dirty lamb chops?
