What're people's favourite game genres? RPG? FPS? RTS? Whatever the fuck else you can think of?

I'm very fond of RTS and strategy games, but, honestly, I'll play just about anything.

Well, of the three you mentioned, I suppose it would be FPS, although I'm usually not that fond of them.
My favourite genre is third-person action/adventure. GTA, Dead Rising, Devil May Cry, et al. They usually have very strong RPG elements as well, so it's all good.

Mainly FPS and RTS. RPG in the style of DeusEx, but not really hardcore stuff like Elder Scrolls.
Pro Evo is always good too, and racing games are fun despite how little I play them.
GTA's patented free roaming third person romps are fun, although I'm not as attached as some I could mention.

Well I didn't mean JUST the three I mentioned. They were just examples, in case retards didn't understand what I was talking about. The genre that appeals to me at any given moment is largely dependant on my mood at that time: FPS - When I'm in the mood for shooting something over and over (the rumble is really relaxing... not in that way though ) RTS - When I'm in the mood for thinking/planning and have a few hours to spare on an almost daily basis for the next few weeks. RPG - When I'm in the mood for planning/thinking/strategy, kicking the sugar out of something and have many many hours to spare. Platforming/Adventure - When I'm in the mood for a quick fix of dexterity training and sugar kicking or am on the move (bus/train/car etc.). Simulation - Mostly taken up by Guitar Hero when I'm in the mood for listening to music and playing a video game. Sport - I'm pretty much never in the mood for this genre... (Diarmuid, take note) Fighting - Similar to Adventure/Platform, but when I'm feeling competitive. ^The above aren't strict rules, more so just guidelines; I'm into pretty much all genres equally^

I forgot to mention how much I love fighting games. I'm an avid Street Fighter player.
I am also the best Soul Caliber player on the planet. No, I am not exaggerating.

Tom-V-Maxwell, online Soul Calibur IV. I'll buy it, I'll get the XBox 360 Gold account. It's done. It's a tournament, it's going to happen. Deal with it.

Grand. I call Raphael though. Who needs him? I generally play Maxi and Siegfried. Actually, I love Raphael (Most fabulous character ever) but it seems like all of my friends always want to use him, and I let them because I'm a gentleman. We call him Rafiki. Yes, the money from The Lion King. My friend, Steve, was unable to pronounce Raphael's name when selecting his character on the title screen. This was his creative interpretation of the pronunciation, and it stuck.

FPS games are generally the best. It is no mistake that the gaming industry devotes the most time to them.

Maxi's quite good, but his fringe annoys me too much for me to want to play as him. I find Siegfried, although badass looks-wise, boring. My top 3 characters would have to be Raphael (and Amy, I suppose - they're too similar to differentiate between in SC3), Mitsurugi (how can you not like him! Powerful and badass) and Heihachi (from the PS2 version, obviously. There's something really satisfying about his attacks, as well as beating someone wielding a sword with him, a 'unarmed' character).
One character I cannot tolerate is Voldo though *shudder* He just annoys me on so many levels.

I have a friend who exclusively uses Voldo. It weirds me out.
I'm a Bruce Lee fan, so I find Maxi appealing. Siegfried is, as you said cool looking, but lacking in interesting moves. I'm more than aware of this...it took me 20 minutes to master his character. But when I started playing Soul Caliber (back in the days of II) I would only touch Nightmare. For some reason. For some stupid, middle school-ish reason. Siegfried is a more interesting character than the newer incarnations of Nightmare, so I mostly play him out of nostalgia, I guess.

I like playing Raphael and Amy mainly because they're so cheap and I'm pretty much guaranteed a win with them. Mitsurugi is a bit slow, but boy does he pack a punch. I'd also have to say that Taki isn't too bad either, whatever about her physics-defying boobs.

Taki and Ivy are annoyingly well-rounded characters (but not in the sense that you're thinking, you dirty pervert, you). Most of my friends are ashamed to play them. But not I! I dispose of my opponents while their absurd breasts bounce all about the screen with pride.
And you're right. Raphael is goddamn unfair.
