A site to keep everyone up to date to any changes that might happen to the site.
There were two new Boards up this morning. '/b/' and 'Mental Masturbation'. I deleted /b/ because it was just a waste of space with nothing to do with anything and I renamed the other one to something simpler.
Please don't clutter the forum up with stupid boards. Thank you.

Ah now. Wasn't this forum meant to be a place for friends to hang out and discuss things? It's turning into just another forum. This makes Tom sad Anyway, I think having a /b/ board would be great! (Well obviously I'd think that, I suppose).

I quite like having silly names for all the boards. For example, renaming "Everything Else" as "Pointless Drivel" would be a positive, in my book. Equally, calling "The Arts" "Mental Masturbation" was beautiful and witty and should be brought back.
I have no idea what /b/ is, and I'm far too lazy to google it.
And given that we have all of about 12 members, and we meet about 90% of them on a regular basis, I reckon we're still a place for friends to hang out and discuss things. Also, I quite like having a few wildcards like Maxwell floating about - keeps things interesting.

I concur with Diarmuid. I'd also like to draw yisser attention t what Rob wrote in the site intro:
Surely, if we take him at his word, we can have /b/ threads and other madness like that? Not that I condone 4chan's /b/ (shudder) But ya know, a touch of informality...

Ah now. Wasn't this forum meant to be a place for friends to hang out and discuss things? It's turning into just another forum. This makes Tom sad Why? Rules are fun! Rules control the fun! *watches everyone leaves* The fact of the matter is if this place just becomes a cluttery mess of literally non-sensical absurdity, people (including myself) will just get bored with it and leave. Calling an Arts board 'Mental Masturbation' is one thing (the only reason I changed it was because it looked out of place when the thread directly above it was called 'Books, Magazines and Graphic Novels') but creating a pointless board and calling it /b/ just didn't make any sense whatsoever (I have googled it and it still doesn't make any sense), especially when you could just create a thread and call it that in the 'Everything Else' board. I quite like having silly names for all the boards. For example, renaming "Everything Else" as "Pointless Drivel" would be a positive, in my book. Equally, calling "The Arts" "Mental Masturbation" was beautiful and witty and should be brought back. I've taken your idea and casually strolled with it. The names will get more or less fun as I see fit. I'm not naming any of the boards after Dear Wandy, though. Just isn't going to happen. Looks promising, but I don't know how to implement it. Suggestions?

Just FYI rob, essentially /b/=random The depraved, image-based randomness that Tom prefers, that is.

Not that I condone 4chan's /b/ (shudder) But ya know, a touch of informality... First of all, let's get one thing straight: Thread: A series of posts based on one theme, within a board. Board: A series of threads, all with different themes, within a forum. Forum: A series of message boards, all with different themes, on the Internet. What Tom created was an entire Board, based on randomness. We already have such a board. There's no need for more than one. Feel free to create a /b/ thread in the Off-Topic board.

But I like /b/ boards! And you can't confine /b/ to just one thread. Each depraved joke needs its own thread (usually they're only about 10 posts long anyhow) and what better way to organise it than in a board!
Plus, I think that new-comers to the site will really get a shock when they see /b/ right on the homepage, which I'd get a humongous kick out of. *nodnod*
I wont push the subject though, as I can't see very many people sharing my liking for that particular brand of humour.

Make as many threads as you want and put them in that board. That's what it's for. Most forums' off-topic boards are full of threads based on one single nonsense-joke.

And Tom, much as I enjoy /b/, surely it works best with Anonymous? Which we don't really have here...

...nope, a board where you can post without your username showing. I believe.

^precisly. Anonymous as an entity. Ah. Actually, that would be cool, but I don't think this bare-basic free message board server has that utility.

No, I doubt it does. Which is probably a good thing, really, considering what Anonymous gets up to...

I just found out you can have signature banners on this site, which is cool.

Just to put a little pressure on the mods (myself included) to get around to it, we can now create skins for the board, and everyone can select from the skins the mods have created. Right now, you have precisely no choice, but rest assured that someone will get around to it at some point soon; stay tuned!

I've half started on a Pokémon skin. It's in the very early stages, but give it a look and offer some criticism. I'm still getting to grips with this whole design system that the forum has going on though.
