Yes folks, it certainly is time to start talking about holidays. Shane wants to go to London and, for once, I think he's had a bloody great idea. Not only are there flights available where they pay you to fly with them (more or less) but I've found some 4* hotels for around €40 a night - which is more or less what we payed in Amsterdam for an apartment, and I think we payed something similar in Munich too (can't really remember, to be honest).
I'd really like to go over at some time that would allow us see Waiting For Godot with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart (I think that runs until the end of July or so? Although they might well extend that). Also there's just a lot of cool stuff to do in London.
I was thinking of going for 5 or 6 days (or a whole weeK?) and hoping to do it for around the €500 mark, or maybe a small bit more. Working until the end of July I think/hope, so August is best, although Waiting For Godot says otherwise.
Discuss.

I wouldn't go to london, its too much like dublin, barely going abroad. For that matter i heard there were 5* hotels in Dublin going for €10 a night. Also ive seen waiting for godot before and it was thoroughly unenjoyable. One might say it was godot awful, he neh neh neh neh neh (feel free to put that in the quotes thread)

London is nothing like Dublin - it's on an entirely different scale for a start. London and New York are probably THE two great cities in the world. There's so much to do and see in London that much as I love Dublin you just can't compare them on any level. Museums, restaurants, markets, theaters, sports grounds, London just has so much more to see and do. And with the current exchange rate everything's around 10% cheaper in London (maybe more).
But if you still don't want to come your loss, I'm not gonna try and persuade you any more than I just have.

Fair enough, I suppose you could certainly make that argument. The more I think about it though, the more I think that London probably is THE great city, for the simple reason that it's the only city which has been a centre of power for over a millenium. Anyway, whatever the case, we should probably go there, if possible - although I also kinda want to go back to Munich...
NO DIARMUID, CONCENTRATE!! London this year, maybe Munich next? Or even over new-years?

Apparently Paris is the 'great' city. For me, it's New York.
But yeah, let's go to London.
