Right, we all know that I've been bitterly disappointed by every superhero game I've ever played, mainly because they tend to be at best the superhero in a generic platformer and at worst something approximating the superhero in something close to a 'game'. However, with the upcoming Summer Holidays - Money combo, I want to check out whether or not there are exceptions to this rule. Surely there is some superhero game that isn't shite?
Sooo.... Recommendations for PC based superhero games, if you please.

First of all, stop doing platformers a disservice. There hasn't been a superhero 'platformer' since the 1990s. Since then, all superhero games have usually been 360 degree challenge-based action games. A platformer is Super Mario Bros. and Sonic. Two of the best games in history.
City of Heroes is said to be very good and that's for the PC. Other than that, I can't really help you because most superhero games are for consoles, because 1) generally people who own consoles are the people who buy licensed games (which is admittedly, retarded) and 2) because the companies who own the characters don't want mod artists making mods for the games that would make them darker (i.e., giving Superman the ability to kill pedestrians with his heat vision) because it will reflect poorly on the character. This is also pretty retarded, but not really on the games' designers part. The media and the parents' groups would inevitably assume (like they did with that supposed Lara Croft 'cheat') that it is an unlockable part of the game that you get when you buy (and therefore that the makers of videogames are to blame), rather than just some idiots who have nothing to do with the licence, trying to have some fun.
