God, that train conductor... I'll never forget Aonghus looking so lost in the face of a foreign language. Never before or since have I seen such a thing. Aonghus, I assume you're working on that, yeah?

Very much so! Czech is now on the top of my list of languages I must learn! Yer man was utterly confounding on all levels ayway... But yeah cherish that moment, Diarmuid! He got my vote...

It's not even particularly a case of cherishing it - it was just a little surreal, you nodding along while everyone else gaped open-mouthedly. Good job we found that guy who spoke English and Czech.

From what I remember, Domo's Dad was a force to be reckoned with on that fateful New Year's Eve. I would not like to cross that man. Not one bit.
I can't vote twice, but if I could, I'd vote for Jack Lee. That man's stoicism really scared me sometimes. Especially when the façade broke and he revealed himself to be a raging sociopath ...

From what I remember, Domo's Dad was a force to be reckoned with on that fateful New Year's Eve. I would not like to cross that man. Not one bit. "Hello?" "Yeah?" "Who is this?" "That's what I'd like to know!" Classic. The worst was that time I was getting changed and he was sort of...looking at me...with a dirty smile playing wistfully about his lips.

I managed to stay out of Domo's dad's bad books, thankfully, but I certainly wouldn't be encouraging people to mess with him. Not one little bit.

The train conductor was a character who (apparently) is going to be played by Samuel L Jackson in the upcoming movie. He was very animated, even though we were on the right train, and he spoke only Czech, which none of us spoke. And then we thought we'd seen the end of him, but when we went to get on our next train not only was it the wrong one but HE WAS ON IT AGAIN!

You know what, I'm kind of glad that I missed that particular bit of Inter Railing.

The decision to take the 18 hour route instead of the 6 hour route is one I'll never regret. Ever. One of the best nights of the whole trip.

Absolutely. Interrailng by night, as we learned again in Koln, is really the way to go.

In fact, I think that we could have gotten out of paying for any hostels if we'd just done a bit more inter-railing by night. Why on earth didn't we think if this sooner?

What I can't understand is why we didn't just try to reason with the Cheb Conductor!

We did, remember? He just kept spouting toothless Czech!

It was a very obvious attempt at sarcasm, that, as per usual, no one understood.
Clearly I'm not retarded enough to have forgotten that the Cheb Conductor didn't understand a word of what we were saying and vice-versa. That's what made the whole situation as hilarious as it was. My suggestion that we not just reason with him was an attempt to comically suggest that I had completely forgotten this failure in the lines of communication.
*lights cigarette, in frustration*

Rob, I hate to say it, but your sense of humour is useless...
(based on the principle that, if something you do seems to fail because everyone else seems to be doing it wrong, it's almost definitely you that's doing it wrong. Occam's Razor in action.)

We need sarcasm tags to avoid this type of confusion. Also Aonghus you're wrong.
