We're not all monsters here, Belle. In fact, I'm actually very nice to the newbs.
As for Rob's RickRolling, he set the swear filter up to RickRoll anyone who used l o l (without the spaces). Little did he know that he had used it not too long before that, leading to him shooting himself in the foot, figuratively speaking.

I already have downloaded the Batmobile, KITT and the Delorean for Vice City. Savage, so it was.
Anyone with Vice City for PC should get the Hill Valley Mod. It's epic. You can actually go back in time.

On a different note, what are the odds that we'll be rickrolled for typing 1337, or h4xx0r? Or , indeed, lolz? I'll be interested to see how Rob copes with the virally mutative nature of 1337spe4k. It annoys me too when nonironic, though, so I won't be teasing him with it. Much.

Ah now, Rob. Do you not remember showing that mod to me and both of us coming to the conclusion that it got old ultra-fast?

What is the meaning of calling a thread "don't call me farmboy, I don't have the time for it"?

*waits for some reference that only Rob'll get... rendering the whole captioned-board thing a bit redundant if few people understand it, imo*

It's a quote from a TV show. It's only temporary until I can think of a quote I prefer. Any suggestions?

Not at the moment, but I would suggest that, given that you used the word L O L in the title for our random board, and that it's now descended into a haze of dreaded Astleyness, is it not worth undoing that ridiculous aspect of the swear filter?

We could just get rid of the captions altogether. And the swear filter too. God, I hate that thing.

I really don't get why everyone's so against the swear filter. Why is it that you all feel compelled to use the f-word repeatedly, in almost every post, anyway? Not to mention that l33t rubbish you all collectively spew out altogether forming posts that don't make sense. It just completely prostitutes the quality of conversation.
Not to mention, 40% of the reason for the swear filter is to prevent Shane from finding new ways to bully Dónal.

;D
And I don't really have a problem with the swear filter, per se. I just get annoyed when perfectly reasonable IRC terms like L O L and R O F L get turned into a load of arse! and in fairness, I think most of us only use 1337 for ironic purposes...

The problem is (and I realise the filters gone already) that LOL and ROFL have been so corrupted that they don't really mean anything. If you're ACTUALLY laughing out loud, then fine. The reality, though, is that LOL normally means smiling slightly, and ROFL almost never means that you're actually rolling on the floor. Hence people (specifically me and Rob) finding them silly.

I can sympathise with that, but I try to use them at least semi-realistically. I may not be roaring laughing when I lol, but I'm certainly emitting at least an audible chuckle. When it gets to near-hysterical laughter, that's when I break out the rofl...

Because I'm a genius and because I was sick of not being able to watch my old Region 1 DVDs, I discovered that it's hideously easy to make any DVD player multi-regional. I am now rejoicing.
